GuYuan Aston, Ningxia Province
GuYuan Aston is the 7th Aston English School in Ningxia Province. The other schools are located in Yinchuan, Shizuishan, Wuzhong and Zhongwei. Guyuan Aston opened its doors in June 2017, and currently employs 1 foreign teacher plus a number of Chinese teachers and staff.
Guyuan is located in the south of Ningxia Province, and is made up of 1 district and 4 counties.
The city is served by Guyuan Liupanshan Airport, though travelers may also choose Zhongwei Xiangshan Airport and Yinchuan Hedong Airport as well. Trains are available straight to Shanghai, Chengdu, Xi’an, Yinchuan and Lanzhou. A high speed train line to Xi’an is currently being built, and should be ready later this year.
Regarding food, the city has many local flavors. Lamb and mutton is very popular and widely eaten.
Due to the variety of both natural and historic sites nearby, Guyuan is fast becoming a tourist hotspot and the number of visitors continues to increase year on year. The Xumishan Grottoes were first built during the reign of Emperor Xiaowen of Wei Dynasty. The site is held under the National Cultural Relics Protection Unit, as well as being a National Scenic Area and a National 4A Tourism Spot.
Mount Liu Pan was the last large mountain that the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army conquered during the Long March, and is located nearby. Because of its historical significance, Mount Liu Pan is also known as the “The Mountain of Fortune”, and “The Mountain of Victory”.
Huoshizhai Danxia National Geological Park lies to the north of Liu Pan Mountains. It is a National Forest Park, a National Geological Park, and a National 4A Tourism Spot. It is the largest of its kind in the north of China.
Apartments: The teacher’s apartments are located close to the school. The apartments are very comfortable and contain everything you need such as heating, washing machine and modern furniture. The locals within the neighborhood are both welcoming and very helpful.
