Perched at the tip of the Liaodong Peninsula, Dalian is surrounded by water on three sides and mountains on the fourth. Dalian is quite unique with its amazing geographical features, and it is because of Dalian's geography, with its two ice-free ports and protective mountains that it was so sought after by the Russians, Japanese, and Chinese alike in the past. More importantly today, the oceans, tree-covered mountains, and natural beauty make Dalian both a travel destination and favorite place of residence for many of these same people.
Dalian is a fairly young city by Chinese standards, but has managed to factor fairly significantly into the history of Northeast China during the last two centuries. Since the late 1890's, Dalian and its surrounding areas have switched hands from China, to Japan, to Russia, back to the Japanese, back to the Chinese and Russians together, and finally entirely back to China in 1955. Wandering the streets of various neighborhoods in Dalian, Russian and Japanese inluence is apparent in much of the architecture, and adds some international flavor to the cityscape.
Having grown from a mere fishing village in the early 1900's, the Dalian skyline is nothing less than impressive. Dalian is now a cultural, economic, and trading hub of Northeast China. Every year, more and more international companies are coming to set up shop in Dalian. Dalian is also a favorite tourist destination for both Chinese and foreign travelers alike. With ocean beaches, museums, aquariums, an International Fashion Festival, an International Beer Festival, an internationally acclaimed golf course (Golden Pebble Beach), mountain hikes, the top-ranked soccer team in China, an exciting nightlife, and a growing expatriate population, there is a lot to do within the city. Dalian is also just a short flight away from many other intriguing places: one hour from Beijing, one hour from Seoul, Korea, a couple hours from Shanghai, and a couple hours from Tokyo. Dalian is also a great springboard for journeys into northern China, to places like Harbin, Shenyang, Inner Mongolia, or even all the way up to Russia!
While Dalian does not have the multi millennia history that many other cities boast, it has its own charm. Clean air, beaches, western amenities, and a huge helping of traditional Chinese culture make Dalian an interesting and very enjoyable place to live. If you don't believe it, come and try for yourself!
Dalian Future School
Here is the birthplace of Aston English School, established in 1996 and going strong into our 15th year. Dalian is home to 7 different locations as well as three kindergartens, the largest number of Aston Schools of any city in China. We also boast one of the highest numbers of total students, Chinese teachers, and Foreign teachers of any city throughout our system.
In Dalian, Aston English School is known locally as “Future School” and the commitment is the same as every location throughout the country – improving students’ speaking and listening skills in a fun and supportive environment. We have been the established market leader in our city for many years due to the quality of education we provide for our students and the experience our teaching staff brings.
All seven of our schools in Dalian are identical in terms of teaching method, support systems, teacher’s resources, classrooms, and overall design. There are however distinctions that can be made owing to the unique character each location has to offer.
Future 1: Located at one of the cities focal points just off Zhongshan Square, Future 1 is second only to Future 3 in Dalian in terms of number of students and teachers. The days and nights bustle in this commerical district with options abound for food, entertainment and shopping.
Future 2: Located in the south western area of the city, this school is a short walk from the beaches that make Dalian famous. It neighbors many universities, shops, restaurants and bars and make this area, Heishijiao, its own little axis of life in Dalian.
Future 3: The largest ESL school in Dalian, Future 3 is located about 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) to the west of People’s Square in what has become a nexus of commerce and entertainment in its own right. Future 3 is a major presence in this part of the city, with thousands of students and the largest teaching staff in Dalian.
Future 4: A little to the north of Future 3 lies the neighborhood of Jinsanjiao, the home of Future 4. This up-and-coming area is full of warm and friendly Dalianese who want to make new foreign friends as well as a diverse selection of food. Conveniently located near the airport, it acts as a great spring board for trips out of town and to the less explored parts of the city and province.
Future 5: Right on Jinzhou district’s pedestrian mall, Future 5 boasts great views of the surrounding mountains, close proximity to the beach, and delicious street food right outside the front doors. Future 5 is one of the smallest and perhaps most intimate of Dalian’s schools.
Future 6: Located in what may be the cleanest urban district in all of Liaoning Province, the newly remodeled Future 6 is a medium sized school in the Kaifaqu (Development Zone) district of northern Dalian. The light rail line zips passengers south into downtown in just 40 minutes, or north to the popular beaches outside of the city in less than half an hour.
Future 7: Just a short trip further away from Dalian’s city center, Pulandian hosts the seventh school in the Future English system. Here in Pulandian you can find a more relaxed lifestyle than what downtown can offer along with a less-Westernized atmosphere. Being the smallest of the Future schools, Pulandian offers new teachers a good environment to learn the ropes of teaching and old hands a low pressure environment to practice their craft.

Apartments
Because of the tremendous range our schools in Dalian cover throughout the city, and the number of teachers we support, it is very difficult to speak in general terms about the apartments provided by the individual schools. All apartments are in the vicinity of the schools where the teachers work. Some are a short bus ride away, and many are within walking distance.
While it is difficult to be specific about the 30+ apartments we offer, the basic minimums of the teacher’s contract are guaranteed and our schools have utilized many for a long time. You should expect 2 bedroom-shared accommodation, solid heating, washing machines, and basic furniture located inside safe and interesting neighborhoods. Please see the Teacher’s FAQ page for additional information.

Hello, my name is Alex I am from Australia.
I taught at Dalian Future School for about 4 years. Future School is a great school to teach at whether you are experienced teacher or someone who has some experience and is looking to further that experience.
The class sizes are a managable maximum of students with some classes below that number and a curriculum is provided for each level.
For most part the kids are well behaved but kids being kids you do get some who like to act up a bit in class, my solution was to keep my classes fun and intersting and this helped to maintain control of the class.
Living in Dalian is great. It's a coastal city ,clean and modern offering expats the perfect mix of Western and Chinese culture. There is plenty of great Chinese restaurants and for me even better hole in the wall type restaurants and my favourite “street food”, my favourite being Bar B Qued lamb sticks. The are many bars and western food restaurants when a night out to enjoy some “food from home” is required
Summer in Dalian to me means the beaches and outdoors. The teaching schedule allows for a lot of free time and you can spend that time swimming at one of Dalian’s many beaches or ejoying a meal while taking in the ocean views.
Summing up teaching with Future School in Dalian“It's a great lifestyle”
Hi my name is Tina, and I am a student at Future English School.
I think Future English School is a fantastic school and we all love it. The teachers are all very friendly and the classes are very funny. We learn vocabulary and grammar while playing games.
We talk and improve our listening and speaking while laughing.I have been with Future School from C3 to C16 and I have learnt a lot here and my English in my middle school is higher than my classmates.
Now for children in China it is not just enough for us to learn how to write but also its important to learn how to talk. Future English can give you a relaxing education and an enjoyable adventure.
My name is Amy and I am a student at Future School.
I think Future School is a very good school. The teachers are friendly and interesting and the classes are very interesting too.
There are not many students in each class so we have a lot of time to talk in English which is important. Although we don't have a lot of homework or exams I still learn a lot of things. My English speaking skill has improved a lot and now I can talk to foreigners easily.
